Artist's Comments

Yes the date on my old signature on the bottom is correct. Done 11 years ago, when I was much younger (duh!), just for fun - something to do while watching tv. Wish I had that kind of leisure time nowadays! Coloured pencils and markers on paper.

This is awesome... I miss that big bastard. =( You really captured him well... can't believe that's colored pencils and markers either wow! Glad you mentioned that... :wow:
:iconloopydave:
Thanks!..and me too.
Back in the day I tinkered with using airbrushes, water colours, oils, guache... just about every medium you care to mention, but always seemed to gravitate back to coloured pencils and markers.. they were never messy and really quick to use!

Seriously man, I need to suck some skillz from you. What kind of coloured pencils do you recommend?

The battle with the mind is the hardest....For me it's almost impossible...

I'm trying to mess with more traditional media at the moment but haven't had a lot of success as of yet... my fav so far has actually been markers but I think the way I sketch doesn't really lend itself to using them as well... I dunno. Haven't used colored pencils much since I was a kid...

:blahblah: Haha... this is just really inspirational man. Seeing stuff like this makes me wanna keep pushing to learn even if the stuff I'm doing now is kinda wack. ;) Thanks for sharing it and for the response!

You even got the silk on the inside of his cheap sports-coat lookin' good! :lmao:

Its been years since I did this piece, but I'm pretty sure I just used cheap crappy pencils from the local newsagent. The trick was to block all the colours in with markers and then do the tonal work over with pencils.
:iconloopydave:
Thanks! Good luck experimenting with different mediums... I love to try new techniques and new approaches and its a great way to learn!!

Genius. Love the trousers!

Best,

Liam.
