You know Dave, as much as I gave you crap about the veins on tarzan, this is the only reason I did so...because you're friggen awesome, and I love seeing this level of detail, how much it fits, how much care went into it, and the pure awesome style you have.
I've been on DA for the better part of 8 years and this has got to be one of my favorite images i've seen. I love her expression, the almost vector like details in the glasses, the flare of color and shapes in her shirt, the way you put together the "Kitty" at the bottom...well I don't want to leave a wall of text, but i'm going to simply say:
Thanks for the lovely words! Where did I learn this? I'm pretty much self taught, - I like to draw or work on my craft every day, observe and try to improve on things that I need to work on. I used to take a sketch book with me everywhere I went and drew people I saw on the train, in meetings.. every where. I still look at everything around me like I'm going to draw it from peoples expressions to how the clothes fit on them. Obsessive much? Probably!

You are a stupid amount of inspiration to me my man!
I was hoping you were self taught. I stated with stick figures when I first stated, though it's been on and off for about seven years I'm taking awhile to pick up on the stuff, but i've gotten pretty far from what I started with. I hope to get to your kind of skill level one day, and I WILL...I promise haha...in five to ten years
OMG, you are my new hero!!! Not just for this one... Your works have so much attention for lightning, fabric, texture, anatomy... everything that I really appreciate in illustrations! Congratulations for your talent! You ROCK!!!
Yup - nowadays I do all my colour work in photoshop, though one of these days I'm going to have to break out the old paint and brushes again - I think they are still in a box somewhere... might even still have my old airbrush in there somewhere.
They were based on my friends boots - unfortunately the stitching on the back started coming undone and she cant wear them anymore. They sit in my costume cupboard now as reference for when I want to paint nice black boots
